Sexting Prevalent Among Young Teens
By Dr. Brian McDonough, Medical Editor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Call it a sign of the times but a new report takes a look at sexting and teens.
The study finds that as many as a quarter of teens sext - or have sexual conversations via texting.
The report also takes a look at the increased association with sexual activity.
The study findings linking the conversations with sexual activity is not surprising but the numbers are concerning because of the young age of the sexters.
If you find that your child is using their cellphone in this way there are no specific recommendations for how to deal with it - obviously this is up to parents and their parenting style - but there is agreement that this is an opportunity for conversation about sex and the various psychological and health implications.
