Severe Weather Causes Heavy Water Damage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – During the storm wicked weather took down trees and flooded streets in parts of Philadelphia. Luckily there wasn't much damage across the region.
Now the clean-up begins. Eyewitness news was there as a taxi looked more like a boat traveling through water near Columbus Boulevard and Vine Street. Areas near Penn's Landing were blocked off due to flooding in the roadways.
There were no people in the way when a giant tree came crashing down in the 1400 block of South Carlisle Street in South Philadelphia. It was lights out for the left side of a car. The tree blocked the front door of a row home.
At Citizens Bank Park, fans scrambled to get away from drenching downpours. A similar scene played out at Broad and South Streets.
PECO had no outages to report throughout the night. A spokeswoman said that crews were ready for the storms and any outages that were reported had power restored quickly.
PSE&G says its southern division (South Brunswick through Camden) reported about 5,000 outages between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., but as of 11 p.m. only about 150-customers still had affected service. Power was restored in those areas by midnight.
The worst damage was closer to Baltimore, Maryland. Severe weather and heavy rain caused major flooding in Prince George County. The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down at BWI-Marshall Airport at 7:19 p.m. Friday. Throughout that region strong winds brought down trees that blocked roadways in several neighborhoods. Flooding and power outages kept thousands in the dark as they waited for the storm to pass.
