Several Cars Damaged In Philadelphia During Police Pursuit

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A suspect has been arrested after a police pursuit that resulted in damage to several vehicles.
"They whipped him out of the car, all these bottles fell out," a witness told Eyewitness News.
The pursuit began around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday in Philadelphia, when police spotted a driver near I Street and Venango, who had stuck several cars, including a police patrol car at Aramingo Avenue and York Street.
"Early this afternoon, our officer observed a man driving this van behind me. He struck a civilian car and took off at a high rate of speed. Then struck a police vehicle," said Lt Jonathan Josey.
Police pursued the erratic driver, who was in a green van and fled toward I-95 South at Girard Avenue. The suspect hit a number of cars along the way before hitting a Philadelphia police highway patrol car at Aramingo Avenue and Westmoreland.
The pursuit only lasted a few minutes and the suspect only got up to about 25 miles per-hour on the highway before he exited at Washington Ave., getting into an accident at Delaware Avenue and Lombard Street. He was cornered by police who surrounded him in Penn's Landing.
When police opened the door to the van, numerous empty bottles of alcohol dropped on the street. The suspect was arrested at the scene of the accident and transported to Episcopal Hospital where he received a blood alcohol test and was treated for minor injuries.
