Police ID Woman Killed In Bucks County Accident

LANGHORNE, Pa. (CBS) -- Police in Middletown Township (Bucks County) were investigating an accident Tuesday that left a pedestrian dead near a SEPTA train station.
Middletown police chief Joseph Bartorilla says the woman, later identified as 61-year-old Joan Schaffer of Newtown, had parked her car in the Woodbourne Station parking lot at about 6:40am and was walking to the platform when she was hit.
"The woman was crossing Woodbourne Road westbound, and a southbound traveling vehicle struck the woman as she was crossing Woodbourne," Bartorilla says.
The accident happened so close to the tracks that SEPTA had to suspend service on the West Trenton line. The victim was taken to St. Mary Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
There was no immediate word on whether charges would be filed against the driver who hit the woman.
Service was suspended between Neshaminy Falls and West Trenton. Inbound trains were operating with delays up to 30 minutes.
