Service Honors Fallen Soldier From Bucks County
By Brad Segall
RICHBORO, Pa. (CBS) - In Bucks County, an annual Memorial Day service in Northampton Township remembered a fallen hero who lost his life less than a year ago.
Army Master Sergeant Kenneth Elwell, a lifelong resident of Holland, Pa., made the ultimate sacrifice last July in Afghanistan. Elwell's family joined the Dembowski family as they laid a wreath at the park named for Bobby Dembowski.
Wayne Lutz, founder of the troop support group Warrior's Watch Riders says the message this holiday is clear.
"We understand that, while the price of freedom is very high, the initial price has already been paid in the revolution and it's our duty as we go forward -- everyone's duty -- to preserve and defend that freedom. And each generation is called upon again to defend that freedom."
Bobby Dembowski, a Council Rock North graduate, was killed five years ago by small arms fire in Iraq. Each year, the township has gathered at the park to remember their hometown patriots.
