SEPTA To Hold Public Meeting On Possible King Of Prussia High-Speed Line

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA is considering building a high-speed line to the King of Prussia/Valley Forge area, and a Public Scoping Meeting was scheduled for Tuesday night at the Radisson Hotel at the Valley Forge Casino to get input.
SEPTA's Director of Strategic Planning Byron Comati says from 4-to-6 p.m., the public will be able to examine possible routes and maps for the rail line, architectural renderings and more. Then at 6, SEPTA will present it's ideas formally.
"We're going to try and scope all the pieces to the puzzle, so to speak," Comati says, "that could preclude, that could exclude, could allow for, could be a barrier to, could be an impediment of, could be a fatal flaw, so scoping the project."
Comati says the King of Prussia Mall, the casino and surrounding office parks provide thousands of jobs in the area, and the only way to get there now is personal vehicle or bus.
The proposed rail line would be a spur off the existing Norristown high-speed line.
"When we look at how we might be able to get a line from the Norristown high-speed line out to the King of Prussia area, we have to basically consider many alignments, and many potential obstacles," he says. "Some are manmade, some are natural environment, some are historical and cultural, some are residential."
