SEPTA Shows Off Its Newly Renovated Allen Lane Train Station
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today for the renovation of SEPTA's historic Allen Lane regional rail station, in Mount Airy.
It took two years to restore the Allen Lane train station, which was built in 1885.
SEPTA general manager Joseph Casey says the station's 19th-century character was incorporated with state-of-the-art upgrades.
"Here we create a fully ADA-accessible station with upgraded lighting, improved passenger facilities, and audio-visual public address system," he said, "while restoring the iconic pedestrian bridge [below] and reconstructing the historic canopies and shelters."

The renovations cost $7.6 million.
