SEPTA Prepares Special Services For Philadelphia Bicycle Race Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This Sunday is Bike Race Day in Philadelphia.
There will be a number of bus detours around the course, so getting there could also be a challenge for spectators.
Normally, SEPTA's Route 9 bus would take you right near the top of the Manayunk Wall, where the race starts and ends (see related story), but that route will be detoured, along with several others near the twelve-mile course.
"The number 9 bus, along with the 27, 32, 35, and several others are scheduled to be detoured starting at 6am on Sunday," notes SEPTA's Kristin Geiger.
She says Regional Rail trains are the way to go.
"Passengers who are traveling from center city and would like to head to the bike race should take SEPTA's Manayunk-Norristown Regional Rail line," she advises. "Center city passengers can board that line at Market East, Suburban Station, and 30th Street Station."
She says there is a special schedule in effect for Sunday: the Manayunk-Norristown Line will run every 30 minutes.
"We will also have a shuttle bus that will operate between Elm Street, Main Street, and the Norristown Transportation Center," Geiger tells KYW Newsradio.
But if the bus is your preferred method of transportation, Routes 9 and 27 will get you somewhat close to the action, at Ridge and Roxborough Avenues.
