SEPTA Offers Credits To Frequent Riders To Ease Pope Weekend Burden

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - With a special schedule set in place during the Pope's visit to Philadelphia September 26th and 27th, SEPTA will offer credits to commuters who buy monthly or weekly commuter passes.

SEPTA Spokesman Manny Smith says to be eligible for any credits, passengers must keep their September monthly or weekly passes:

"We know that the Papal visit service adjustments will have an impact on our regular riders, so we are offering a credit towards future passes for those who have purchased September monthly passes and those who will buy weekly passes that include September 26th and 27th."

Monthly Trail and Trans pass customers will get $5 in credit, while weekly trans-pass riders, for the week of the 21st, are eligible for $2 in credit.  For those who buy weekly Trailpasses from all zones, there is a $10 credit.

"The most important thing to remember is that passengers who purchase these passes who want to redeem credit, they must turn in their old passes, when purchasing the monthly or weekly passes for which they want applied," Smith adds.

The credits can be used anytime up until the end of December, and must be used by going to a SEPTA ticket window. They are not valid online.
