Septa Greets Visitors to British-Themed Flower Show With An American Treat

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Septa rail passengers headed to the Philadelphia Flower Show were serenaded today as they walked from Market East Station to the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
All week, passengers coming up the escalators have been walking through a concourse adorned with clusters of white, red, and blue balloons, some shaped to form the Union Jack, in recognition of this year's British theme for the Flower Show (see related story).
And for a couple of hours today, Septa brought in some musicians to add to the ambiance.
The George Weldon Trio plays jazz -- a singularly American invention. But Weldon (on vibraphone in photo) says this type of music is universally adored:
"American jazz is popular overseas and in the UK, and we have managed to squeeze in 'A Foggy Day of London Town' today."
The music isn't designed to draw crowds so much as to further brighten the atmosphere for those headed to the Convention Center in search of the sights and fragrances of spring.
