SEPTA Evening Commuters In Center City Will See Change In Fare Collection
By Kim Glovas
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- SEPTA riders commuting from Center City stations in the afternoon will have tickets validated or punched differently beginning Monday.
SEPTA's Andrew Busch says commuters using Temple University, Jefferson, Suburban Station, 30th Street and University City stations will notice the change between 3 and 6:30 p.m.
"About 95-percent of SEPTA Regional Rail riders use these stations every day, and they have been getting crowded for the evening rush so the changes are being made to keep things moving a little smoother."
Passes will be validated and tickets will be punched at the mezzanine level, before riders head down the stairs to the trains.
Busch says, in the meantime, SEPTA is continuing to work on getting specific repairs done to the Silverliner Five fleet, and that timetable is still fluid at this time.
