Seniors At Bucks County Retirement Community Give Twitter A Try
WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS) - This week at a retirement community in Bucks County, seniors are getting plugged in to a popular social networking site.
For Eileen, Facebook is old hat.
"I got a few Halloween messages from a few friends -- old-ish friends, actually."
So she's trying Twitter.
"I've already done two Tweets," she boasts. "My first one was 'I just learned how to Tweet. Hope it will prove to be interesting & worthwhile.' How's that?"
Hatboro-Horsham High School seniors -- as part of their graduation project -- are giving these residents of Ann's Choice a gentle push into the digital world.
"They were all saying that they heard about it from their grandchildren or children."
Peter Brzezinski knows the lingo, so he's at the head of this Computer Club class.
"As simple as the hashtag is, I feel like that will take a little bit of time before they really get it."
Eileen's following the Dalai Lama.
"I'm sure someone else does that for him. He's in India right now by the way."
Her verdict, in 140 characters or less?
"I can see how it could be sort of fun -- if you had nothing else to do."
