Sen. Bob Casey Says It's Time For Lawmakers To Step Up And Give Transit Agencies The Money They Need

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With the one year anniversary of the fatal Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia behind us, U.S. Senator Bob Casey says it's time to look ahead at the future of rail travel in America.
As a regular Amtrak rider, Senator Bob Casey says he's happy with the improvements that have come as a result of the accident. But he says it's not enough and he's urging Congress to walk the walk by giving transit agencies the cash needed to make necessary safety and infrastructure upgrades.
"Even with full implementation of positive train control, we got to do a lot more to ensure both safety and reliability."
And that's why he hopes there will be bi-partisan support for a $1.9-billion transit spending plan that is backed by President Obama.
"We need more do'ers on this. We don't just need people giving speeches."
