Security Officer Charged For Sexual Relations With Female Inmate
WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS)—Delaware State Police have arrested a security officer after it was reported he had been engaging in sexual relations with a female inmate.
On August 13, 2013, Delaware State Police Detectives initiated an investigation after being contacted by the Delaware Capitol Police. A 22- year-old female inmate in custody disclosed that she had sexual relations with Vasilios Hantzopoulos, 47, a security officer employed by the Capitol Police.
Through further investigation, it was determined that the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. as the female inmate was being held in the custody of the Delaware Capitol Police in a detention area of the New Castle County Courthouse.
The victim reported that she was approached by Hantzopoulos and they both engaged in sexual relations within the detention area.
Detectives obtained a warrant charging Hantzopoulos with Sexual Relations in Detention Facility and Official Misconduct.
On Wednesday, September 18th, Hantzopoulos turned himself in and was arrested and charged with the above crimes. He was arraigned and released on $2,000 Unsecured Bond.
