Security Beefed Up At 30th Street Station
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Following the killing of Osama bin Laden, authorities have tightened security at transit hubs across the country, including here at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station.
There's no specific threat, but authorities say they are stepping up patrols, like here at 30th Street station, where people are being asked to be more aware and more alert.
Teresa Williams, heading to Delaware, says she's listening, "We're paying attention. We are paying attention. I believe personally that they are planning something. That there will be some retaliation for the death of Osama bin Laden."
And while some travelers say they wouldn't be surprised if there was retaliation by terrorists for bin Laden's death, they say they're not letting it ruin their plans, "No more worried than usual, definitely you should be alert, but I don't think there's any cause to be afraid, I mean you should get along with your daily routine."
"I feel comfortable in Homeland Security and how they've handled things, and I've gotten used to handling your baggage and keeping everything close to you," another passenger says.
And that's generally the message from authorities, no need to be afraid, but be alert. Again, no specific threats, but Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsey says they're working with the FBI and homeland security, and transit officials to maintain security.
