Homicide Suspect Being Chased By Police Dies After Jumping In Front Of Train In Montgomery County

JENKINTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A homicide suspect being pursued by police jumped in front of train in Montgomery County early Monday morning, police said. Authorities say the suspect was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The manhunt for the suspect caused the Jenkintown Middle and High School to be placed on lockdown, which has since been lifted.
The incident began when police spotted the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Thomas Borden of Langhorne, Bucks County, walking on a street in Jenkintown. Borden reportedly ran from authorities and a pursuit ensued.
Borden was eventually spotted near the Jenkintown Middle and High School and for that reason, the school was placed on lockdown.
At about 10:45 a.m., police say Borden jumped in front of a SEPTA regional rail train between the Noble and Jenkintown stations.
He was placed under custody and was taken to Abington Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Authorities say on April 20, the Schuyler County Sheriff's Department and the New York State Police began a homicide investigation in the Town of Dix, in Schuyler County, New York. Police say 31-year-old Daniel Bennett was killed that night in his home.
Investigators from both departments followed leads for two days when they were led to believe Borden may have been involved in the homicide. Subsequently, police in Schuyler County issued a violent felony warrant for Borden. The investigation led the authorities to Pennsylvania where they suspected Borden to be.
Officials say service in both directions on the West Trenton Line was suspended due to police activity.
