Schuylkill River Aglow With "Light Drift"
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This weekend, only, a cutting edge art exhibit is on view in Center City on the Schuylkill River. It's called "Light Drift," and it's the latest project of the Mural Arts Program.
Charise Verdi:
"I've never seen anything like it before, I think it's pretty amazing. It's so vibrant."
Verdi was among the first night crowd for the three-night exhibit, which consists of dozen of pods of blue and green light bobbing on the Schuylkill between Market and Chestnut Street.
On the walkway next to it, a dozen more pods are slightly crushed on top, to create a seat, and in the seat is a sensor that causes the pod to change color and sends a signal to the pods on the water and they change color.
It's a whole new direction for Mural Arts director Jane Golden:
"The idea is to embrace muralism in the 21st Century, to look at different ways of working and that includes new technologies."
Said a visitor:
"I think it's really awesome. I don't even understand how it was done but it's really great."
