School Officials Taking Case Of MRSA Seriously At Council Rock South

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – About twenty players on the football team at Council Rock South high school in Holland, Bucks County are being treated for skin conditions, including one for MRSA. School officials are trying to contain the outbreak.
The school rescheduled Friday's game against Pennsbury to this Monday while the players get checked out and treated by doctors. In a statement, principal Albert Funk says the entire school will be disinfected before class resumes.
Running back Tyler Anderson has a staph infection on his elbow and he's taking every precaution to prevent it from spreading.
"It's just a little bit of redness. It almost looks like a scar. I put Neosporin on it and then put a pad over that and then I'll take the whole thing, the whole elbow and then I'll even wear sleeve over that just to be 100% safe."
He says the whole team now brings their pads home after every practice and scrubs them with bleach.
"Everyone on the team is just, you know, being very cautious of what they do, being clean."
Anderson and all of the other infected players are taking antibiotics. They can't play until cleared by a physician.
