School District Bus Driver Charged With Indecent Assault, Corruption Of Minors
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Superintendent of Centennial School District Dr. Joyce Mundy announced that a school bus driver was charged with indecent assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with minors stemming from incidents that occurred outside his employment within the District.
The accused bus driver, Fred Brimmer, has been on administrative leave since October 22 when the District first learned of an alleged incident. Centennial School District subsequently notified police.
Prior to his employment in the District, Brimmer went through the required background checks for criminal records and child abuse history clearances.
At the time of his hire, the background checks gave no indication of any previous criminal behavior.
District administrators have launched a support plan in case any Centennial students are impacted by the situation, including providing counselors and a Parents Night meeting.
The Upper Southampton Township Police is asking anyone who may have been a victim of inappropriate behavior in relation to Brimmer to contact Det. James Schirmer at 215-364-5000 ext. 115.
