Scholarship Gives Lift To Women Taking 'Untraditional' Path To College
By Mike Dougherty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A local chapter of the American Association of University Women is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a female undergrad student who has taken a non-traditional path to college.
The Medford chapter of the AAUW is looking for a female Burlington County resident currently attending any college in New Jersey whose college education was delayed or interrupted because life got in the way.
"They're enrolled in a college already and they have to have at least one semester with a GPA of at least 3.0."
PR director Rita Manno says women fresh out of high school are ineligible.
The application deadline is March 31st and must include a letter of recommendation as well as a 500 word essay, "because we want to hear about their life and what their goals are in college."
