Sarah Murnaghan Receives "Shining Star" Award From Local Chapter Of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 11-year-old Newtown Square girl who made national headlines when her parents sued to get her on the adult lung transplant list was honored Friday night.
Sarah Murnaghan received The "Shining Star" award from the Delaware Valley chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the annual Wishes and Dreams Winter Ball.

The chapter says Sarah received the award to honor her as an individual with Cystic Fibrosis who strives to live life to the fullest and overcome the many obstacles Cystic Fibrosis presents.
On June 5th, days after her mother's very public plea for help, a federal judge's ruling cleared the way for Sarah to get priority on adult lungs.

Her first transplant on June 12th failed. Then a few days later, a bout of pneumonia had her second transplant in question, but the family said those new lungs showed no sign of rejection.
After spending six months at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, the 11-year-old returned to her Newtown Square home in August.
