Sandberg On Rollins' Injury: 'He's Day-To-Day,' But Condition Is Better Than Originally Thought
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Chris Stigall spoke with Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT to get an update on Jimmy Rollins' injury.

Sandberg said the shortstop's condition is better than they first feared, and he will return this season.
"Rollins is day-to-day. He's got a little mild hamstring strain that he did on a triple going from second to third. He went to a different gear and was stretched out and just felt a little something. He's day-to-day status. I checked on him yesterday and he was re-evaluated and came back better than what we thought the night before, when it happened. He'll be checked out each day and see how he progresses. In some regards, he should see some action this year, still."
With the release of the 2015 inter-league matchups announced this week, Sandberg stated he's warmed up to the idea of taking on teams from the American League.
"It took me a little while to get used to it, but, in some regards, it breaks up the season, going through some different teams instead of playing within your own division as much. It breaks up the scenery for the players. You see some different teams, some different looks," he explained.
Sandberg also addressed handling players' off the field behavior, saying that he tells them in spring training to be aware of what is expected of them.
"That's brought up in spring training. It's brought up when you're grabbing the whole spring training group together…and you talk about representing the organization and representing the uniform and representing the city that you're in and the team. That's mentioned. That's on the field and off the field activities. That's addressed, and you hope that the players follow that and respect the team that they play for."
