Same Suspect Strikes 2 Banks In 1 Day In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The FBI and Philadelphia Police are searching for the suspect involved in an attempted robbery of a Bank of America and the robbery of a PNC Monday afternoon.
Police said at about 12:15 p.m., the suspect attempted to rob the Bank of America in the 1800 block of E. Allegheny Avenue, and then later robbed a PNC inside the Wills Eye Hospital in the 900 block of Walnut Street at 2 p.m.
In bother robberies, the suspect allegedly presented threatening demand notes to the tellers. According to police, in the earlier robbery, the suspect fled without obtaining any money, but in the second robbery, he allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen in a parking lot in the 800 block of Sansom Street.
Police are requesting the public's help in locating the suspect who is described as a white male in his 40s or 50s, medium to stocky build with very light facial hair.
In the first robbery, he wore a white baseball cap, a light-colored or grey "baseball" style shirt with blue sleeves, dark cargo shorts and white sneakers.
In the second robbery, he was wearing a bright red Phillies baseball cap and t-shirt, khaki cargo shorts, and white sneakers.
The subject is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Philadelphia Police Department or the FBI at 215-418-4000.
