Safety Halloween Tips!
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's Halloween, which means gussied-up little ones will be roaming the streets this evening on their annual candy quest.
Kids are four times more likely to get hit by a car on Halloween than other nights, but Jana Tidwell of Triple-A public affairs said pedestrians of all ages can be at risk.
"So of course that includes our trick or treaters, as well as parents and guardians who are out there escorting them."
She said Triple-A recommends parents and kids carry flashlights with new batteries, wear bright clothing and even use reflective tape. Though this is thought of as a kids' holiday, Tidwell said it's one of the bigger drinking days of the year.
"Nearly 40% of fatal crashes on Halloween involve a drunk driver."
If you're attending or throwing a grown-up Halloween party, make sure there are designated drivers.
