Ryan Howard 'We've Actually Played Very Well'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Phillies allowed 25 runs on 38 hits, committing six errors, while getting swept in their first home series this week against the Milwaukee Brewers. They're in the middle of their current four game losing streak, the Phillies have fallen to 3-6 and last place in the National League East.
On Wednesday night, Ryan Howard committed a crucial error late in the game, allowing the go-ahead run to score. Nevertheless, before Thursday's game, Howard remained optimistic.
"[We] had a couple mistakes here and there that have kind of costed us games and in all actuality, we've actually played very well this year," Howard said.
Howard, who was 0-2 with two walks in Thursday's 6-2 loss, is now 7/35 (.200) with one home run and three RBI's in nine games so far this season. Howard says not to panic, it's still early.
"I disagree with everybody us, but our record doesn't necessarily reflect that right now. It's eight games," Howard said before Thursday's loss. "You guys are trying to start a panic attack early. If you want to panic go ahead and panic, but don't bring it around here."
The Phillies open a weekend series against the Florida Marlins tonight, before welcoming in the Atlanta Braves for four games beginning on Monday.
