Rutgers Offering Summer Classes At The Jersey Shore
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (CBS) – Get your degree while you get a tan.
That's right – Rutgers University is now offering classes at the Jersey Shore.
The program, which offers a mix of classes that take part both at the beach and online, is called RU at the Shore.
According to the Rutgers website, the courses are happening in four Shore towns: Atlantic City, Cape May, Avalon and Point Pleasant. They span subjects from science to art.
"Drawing on Nature," for example, is an art class worth three credits that meets at Avalon's Golden Inn. "Intro to Oceanography" is also worth three credits and focuses on marine environmental issues as well as the properties of the ocean, such as tides and waves.
The Rutgers summer course offerings are just the latest in a number of oddball and headline-grabbing college classes offered in our area. Recently, Penn announced a course called "Wasting Time on the Internet," and in 2014, Rutgers offered a class on Beyonce.
Rutgers says RU at the Shore classes will run June 22 – July 17, 2015.
