Rutgers Day Set For Last Saturday In April

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBS) --- The 6th annual Rutgers Day is set for Saturday, April 26th in North Jersey, a day-long free festival to demonstrate all that the university offers.
A record 83 thousand people showed up last year at the New Brunswick and Piscataway campuses, and organizers expect even more this year.
Call it even parts public relations, taxpayer access and potential recruitment tool. The all day event on Saturday, April 26th at the main New Brunswick campus and in Piscataway will feature 500 different chances to see what the school does first hand.
Patrick Cogan directs a non-denominational chapel in New Brunswick and is helping to coordinate the day's events. He says one reason for Rutgers Day is to recruit prospective students.
"Sure, that's a component of it," said Cogan. "However, we're the state university of New Jersey. So, all the New Jersey taxpayers might be interested to see where that money's going."
Some 500 exhibits will feature everything from food and drink to entertainment and, of course, education. Efforts on brain research and global learning will be showcased.
Highlights will also include an exhibit on the football team's transition to the Big 10 Conference
