Rutgers-Camden Hosts Business Camp For High School Seniors
By Mike DeNardo
CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) -- A few dozen South Jersey high school seniors are spending the next two weeks of their summer at a "business camp" on the campus of Rutgers University in Camden.
In a Rutgers-Camden classroom today, students huddled in groups of five, creating a product out of some household items they were given.
Rutgers business school's Samantha Collier says it's part of the university's 12th annual business camp.
"This is an exercise to help them as they get started, learning about all aspects of business," she explained, "that it's just as important to think about what goes into the development of a product and how you're going to sell that product on the market."

Justin Quigley, a senior at Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, NJ, worked with his group to name their thermal cup-within-a cup product.
"Yeah -- Helping HANDle. And make 'hand' in capitals and 'le' in small," he specified.
Collier says the camp exposes seniors to management, accounting, and technology.
"On Thursday we're taking them to New York City to visit J. Walter Thompson, an internationally know advertising agency," she says. "They will also being doing a tour at Macy's -- a behind-the-scenes tour."
Collier says the program has been so well received that Rutgers is adding a camp for high school juniors later this summer. She says half of the students in the program will apply to Rutgers, and a quarter will wind up going there.
