Rutgers Announces Task Force To Address Governance
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers has announced the members of a joint task force that will look at improving university governance.
Board of Governors Chairman Gerald Harvey and Board of Trustees chair Dorothy Cantor announced Thursday that the seven-member task force will be headed by The Rev. M. William Howard Jr., pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Newark and a former chair of the board of governors.
The others are Board of Trustees members Sandy Stewart, Marisa Dietrich, Iris Martinez-Campbell and Heather Taylor, and Board of Governors members Sen. Gordon MacInnes and Kenneth Schmidt.
Rutgers officials have said the school needs to examine how it is run during a time of transformation. Last month, Rutgers took over most of the former University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, including two medical schools.
