Ruling on Cause of Garrett Reid's Death Still Weeks Off
By Brad Segall
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (CBS) -- It could be several more weeks before authorities in Northampton County, Pa. release the results of their investigation into the death of Eagles head coach Andy Reid's eldest son, Garrett.
The county coroner completed the autopsy last week on Reid, 29, and put a rush on the results of toxicology tests, but it still could take several more weeks for those findings to come back.
Until that time, it appears the Northampton County district attorney will not release any information on the investigation.
Lehigh University police were also investigating but have not commented on their part of the probe.
Garrett Reid, who was working as a volunteer with the Eagles' strength and conditioning coaches, was found unresponsive in his dorm room earlier this month (see previous story). Authorities have not revealed who found him.
In a statement days after his death, Andy Reid acknowledged his son's drug addiction, saying he "lost the battle" that has been ongoing for eight years.
