Route 168 Bridge Over I-295 To Reopen
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — State transportation officials say the Route 168 bridge deck over Interstate 295 will fully reopen this weekend.
The bridge is at the borders of Bellmawr, Haddon Heights and Mount Ephraim in Camden County.
Traffic had been reduced to one lane in each direction since construction began in the summer of 2012.
All four lanes of traffic should be reopened starting this weekend.
The $2.3 million project replaced the Route 168 bridge deck and superstructure after it was deemed structurally deficient.
New sidewalks and parapets have been added, as well as a new overhead sign over I-295 southbound.
DOT officials say periodic lane closure will continue in order to complete final paving and striping over the bridge.
The project is expected to be completed later this spring.
