Round-The-Clock Weekend Highlights Accessibility Of Barnes On The Parkway

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Free events continued on Memorial Day at the newly-opened Barnes on the Parkway, as museum officials highlight the greater accessibility of the new location.
The museum was open round-the-clock for the three-day weekend, highlighting the greater accessibility of the new location.
The Barnes in Merion saw 60,000 visitors a year. The Barnes on the Parkway saw 20,000 in the last ten days.
"It was a great experience. We think they did a great job, preserving the arrangements that he had."
"It's even more spectacular because of the lighting."
"It was very nice how one room wasn't just like Picasso and Matisse. They were all different and they would have one Matisse here and another Matisse next to each other and you could kind of compare how they looked together."
The art on the walls was only part of the weekend's experience. There were round-the-clock performances and activities. A sleep-deprived Peg Zminda, chief operating and financial officer, says the 3-day extravaganza was a one-time event, but the museum wants to do more off-hour programming.
"A night where we would have more different entertainment yeah, I could see us doing it again, but not anytime soon."
