Romney Controversy May Have Implications For Both Sides

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In White House battles, appearances can sometimes be deceiving, as is the case in the so-called "47-percent controversy."
At first, it appeared to be a major blunder, but the candidate and sources in the Pennsylvania Republican party see opportunity knocking.
The continuing controversy is over a videotape of Mitt Romney talking to big-time fund raisers and claiming that 47-percent of voters are dependent on the government in some way which is why they will vote for the President.
The Obama campaign jumped on it, but Romney says he will continue to press the point.
Another video was released with Romney suggesting the Palestinians don't want peace with Israel.
Some pundits say it's a game changer, but inside Republicans tell us the video may change the momentum Romney's way since he is now trying to shore up the GOP right wing base.
This is important because the undecided voters are near six-percent, which is almost an all-time low. Any controversy could help either side.
The latest tracking polls show a dead heat.
