Rodin Museum Offers Monthly Sketching Class

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Rodin Museum at 21st and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway is considered a jewel of Philadelphia.

It opened in November of 1929 and the collection contains nearly 150 sculptures in bronze, marble and plasters as well as drawings. Once a month, you can learn from a master, according to associate curator Jennifer Thompson.
"The second Saturday of the month, we offer a sketching class that's free to the public. There's a trained instructor there to help guide people. It's for people of all ages, and all materials are provided, and you get about an hour to sketch in the galleries and the gardens," Thompson explains.
Some of the well known pieces you'll see include "The Thinker," "The Kiss" and the "Gates of Hell."
