Ride The Ducks Suspends Operations Indefinitely In Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's one of the more popular ways for people to take in the sights in Philadelphia, but the future of the Ducks in town is up in the air for now.
On Wednesday night, Ride The Ducks Philadelphia announced that it was suspending operations indefinitely.
The company said in a statement, that due to circumstances which included a 330 percent increase in insurance premiums, continuing to operate in Philadelphia is not "financially feasible," at this time.
The tour has had a pair of fatal incidents, on land and in the water.
In 2010 two Hungarian students drowned in the Delaware after a tugboat towing a barge hit their duck boat.
Last year, a duck boat struck and killed a tourist while she was crossing the street in Center City.

"We enjoyed serving the people of Philadelphia since 2003, serving over one million guests during that time," that statement read. "We are working with the 42 full and part-time employees from our Philadelphia location offering severance and outplacement assistance."
