Rick Santorum Gaining Ground On Mitt Romney
By Larry Kane
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There are new developments in the GOP race for president.
After a squeaker over Ron Paul in Maine, Mitt Romney's team is ready to set off an ad barrage in Michigan and Arizona.
Why? Rick Santorum is raising more than $1-million a day, and is ahead of Romney in several national polls after his triple victory last week.
Santorum is already campaigning in Super Tuesday states, including the south and the upper Midwest, with polls showing him in second place in Newt Gingrich's stronghold, Georgia.
Also, we have learned that the Romney and Gingrich political operatives are now putting the Pennsylvania April 24th primary in play, unless a court ruling on redistricting prevents it. One Pa. poll has Santorum tied with Romney.
Bottom line: concern in the Romney campaign, Santorum rising and a race that might have been over could be a marathon.
