Ribbon Cutting To Open Jersey Shore For Memorial Day Weekend Makes Guinness World Records
POINT PLEASANT, N.J. (CBS) – An official from Guinness World Records announced Friday morning that New Jersey made a new world record.
After New Jersey governor Chris Christie cut the ribbon to open the Jersey Shore for the unofficial start of summer, a representative from Guinness World Records announced that New Jersey beat a record.
Before Friday morning the longest ribbon cut in a ribbon cutting ceremony was 4.19 miles long.
The ceremony held in Point Pleasant, New Jersey broke that record with a ribbon stretching 5.51 miles, making it a new Guinness World Record.
"We can now say that the state of New Jersey is officially amazing," said the Guinness World Record rep.
