Reward Offered In Armed Robberies Of Northeast Philadelphia Rite Aid
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A reward is being offered in connection with two armed robberies at the same pharmacy in Northeast Philadelphia in a week.
The robberies happened on May 14th and May 21st at the Rite Aid located at Welsh and Blue Grass Roads.
In the first robbery, the suspect entered the store at about 4:15 a.m. and walked up to the pharmacy counter. The suspect pointed a handgun at the pharmacist and demanded Percocets.
The pharmacist complied and handed the suspect a bag with the drugs inside. The suspect then ran out of the store.
In the most recent robbery, a suspect entered the same Rite Aid at about 2:30 a.m. on Monday. While he walked towards the pharmacy, the suspect spotted a uniformed security officer who was assigned to the store.
The suspect then took the security guard to the pharmacy area and told the guard to get on the ground as he pointed a gun at the guard.
The suspect then yelled for the pharmacist, who was hiding in the pharmacy, and told him he would shoot the guard if he didn't come out.
The pharmacist complied and came out and was handed a note from the suspect that demanded all the store's Percocets.
The pharmacist handed the suspect a box and the suspect then ran out of the store.
Investigators believe the same suspect could be linked to both robberies.
The Rite Aid Corporation, in conjunction with the Citizens Crime Commission, is offering a $5,000 reward for each robbery for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
