Retired Pa. Teacher Charged With Raping 4 Children
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A retired teacher from southeastern Pennsylvania is behind bars charged with raping four children.
Seventy-year-old William Rhoads was arrested at his Phoenixville home on Sunday.
Police say they received a complaint on September 9 alleging Rhoads had raped a 4-year-old boy. Authorities say they also identified three other victims.
Prosecutors say Rhoads is a retired mechanical engineer who taught at Villa Maria Academy, a Roman Catholic high school for girls.
Rhoads is being held on $5 million bail on charges including 40 counts of rape of a child and 60 counts of manufacture of child pornography.
It was not immediately clear if Rhoads had an attorney. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
