Residents Of The Delaware Valley Wait For Flood Waters To Recede
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – In Montgomery County, parts of Douglass Township looked like a river. Heavy rain hammered streets and stopped at least one driver in his tracks.
The daylong storm flooded parts of Kelly Drive causing drivers to dodge and detour around huge puddles of rain. As the Schuylkill River rose over its banks, traffic was at a standstill on the Schuylkill, near Kelly Drive, due to a mudslide.
Windshield wipers whipped non-stop as drivers were forced to take it easy on a wet and dreary spring Saturday.
Most flood warnings have been lifted, but two are still in effect: The Brandywine Creek in Chadd's Ford, and the north branch of the Rancocas Creek at Pemberton.
There's also still flooding on some roadways, including the Admiral Wilson Boulevard in Camden.
No mass transit problems, and no weather related delays at Philadelphia International Airport.
PECO says power has been restored to most of the 25,000 customers who ended up in the dark during the storms.
And PSE&G reports no major outages in their South Jersey area.
