Residents Near Tullytown Landfill About To Get Some Relief
FLORENCE, NJ – Those complaining of the stench from the Tullytown Landfill are about to get some relief.
The operator Waste Management has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit which includes spending $600,000 on deodorizing equipment and creating a $1.4M compensation fund.
This week, notices went out to about 9,600 eligible households in areas of Pennsylvania and New Jersey close to the landfill.
Depending on how many join the lawsuit by the February 3 deadline the payout could be just less $100 per household to several hundred dollars.
"Waste Management is pleased that the proposed settlement moves us closer to resolving this issue. Waste Management remains committed to operating as a good neighbor," says Waste Management spokesman John Hambrose.
