Mt. Laurel Residents Asked To Reduce Water Usage Due To Major Sewer Line Break
MT. LAUREL, NJ (CBS) -- Police say a major sewer line break occurred in Mount Laurel, New Jersey Wednesday morning.
The Mount Laurel Municipal Utilities Authority says a break in the sewer force main happened on Hartford Road, just south of Route 38.
Authorities are asking residents to reduce their water usage and contact the Municipal Utilities Authority if their sewer backs up.
Officials say the problem is affecting 80 percent of the township.
Officials say crews are working to make repairs as soon as possible.

As a result of the break, the Mount Laurel MUA says sewage began overflowing into the Pennsauken Creek off of Ramblewood Parkway. In order to prevent further impact on the environment or customers and to prevent their system backing up into basements, the Mount Laurel MUA says they have begun diverting the overflow on to the ground at their fenced solar facility off of Ramblewood Parkway. They says this will allow them to contain the spill and mitigation will take place as soon as their system is back on.
The NJDEP is involved and monitoring their progress, according to the Mount Laurel MUA.
