Residents Across Philadelphia Region Prepare For Second Winter Storm
CHERRY HILL, N.J., (CBS) -- If you ever wondered if people truly flock to the grocery stores and the hardware shops the night before a pending storm, here is your answer.
Eyewitness News found shoppers with a shovel in one hand and rock salt in the other, and carts filled with bags and bags of necessities.
"Two snow shovels and 12, 13 cans of ice melt," a shopper said.
Yes, we're talking serious storm preps and no one taking any chances.
"Yeah this is for tomorrow," a shopper said.
"If it does come, we will be ready," another shopper said.
After what we saw on Sunday from South Jersey to Philadelphia and across the region, we're told being socked with a surprise storm is one thing.
"I had no idea that was coming, in fact, I had planned on going shopping yesterday," MargaretAnn Ramsey of Fishtown said.
But now that they know round two is just around the corner, shoppers say their game plan this time is to stay ahead of Mother Nature and play it safe.
"Just some of the basic stuff, just like a little fill-in trip so I think we will be set if it does snow," Tara Pierman of East Falls said.
"We actually just moved and apparently we forgot our shovel at our last place, so we learned our lesson last night," Alex Dimauro of Cherry Hill, NJ said.
"Yeah, got to get ready man, you don't know if it's going to be a lot or if it's going to be a little bit, but you just have to be ready," Mari Silva of Camden, NJ said.
Over and over again shoppers told Eyewitness News they might have been caught off guard on Sunday, but this time, they are ready for anything.
