Reputed Gang Member Indicted In Fatal NJ Shootings
WILLINGBORO, N.J. (AP) — Burlington County prosecutors say a reputed gang member has been indicted on murder charges stemming from the fatal shootings of two men in Willingboro four years ago.
Thirty-two-year-old Tarik Mackins of Trenton also faces charges of conspiracy, aggravated assault and weapons offenses in the indictment handed up earlier this month.
Both shootings occurred in September 2008.
Prosecutors say 23-year-old Darryl Sample was shot and killed while he walked on a city street. Two days later, 28-year-old Deion Madison was shot several times inside his car. He died from his wounds four dayS later.
Prosecutors say both victims "had connections" to the Bloods street gang, while Mackins was a member of a rival gang. The shootings allegedly stemmed from a threat a Bloods member made against a member of Mackins' gang.
