Reports Indicate Eagles Interest Level In Bill O'Brien Is High
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien is a favorite of chairman Jeffrey Lurie to fill the Eagles' head coaching vacancy reports indicate.
David Jones of Penn Live said that Lurie is "very intrigued" by O'Brien, and 94WIP's Howard Eskin said that O'Brien is a favorite to land the job.
O'Brien led the Nittany Lions to a surprising 8-4 record in 2012, leading a successful campaign in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
Several reports have indicated that O'Brien's contract has a buyout clause, that could cost an NFL team between $9 million and $18 million to hire O'Brien away.
