Report: Texans Wanted Matt Barkley Over Ryan Mallett
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Last Sunday the Houston Texans acquired Ryan Mallett from the New England Patriots for a seventh round pick. According to Houston radio host Lance Zierlein, two sources tell him the Texans targeted Eagles QB Matt Barkley before Mallett.
Mallett, 26, is in his fourth NFL season with only four games of experience under his belt. Barkley, 23, is entering only his second NFL season. In three games last year, Barkley completed 30 of 49 passes for 300 yards, but also threw four interceptions.
The Eagles, apparently, did not want to part ways with Barkley for a late-round draft pick.
