Sixers Waive JaVale McGee
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Sixers have announced they waived JaVale McGee. The big man was acquired in a trade from the Denver Nuggets which included the Sixers receiving a first round pick.
McGee had to be waived before midnight on Sunday night to be eligible to play in the postseason for another team. McGee has played in Brett Brown's rotation since joining the Sixers and did not express interest in being bought out of his contract.
McGee, 27, is set to make $11.25 million for this season and is owed $12 million next season. There are multiple playoff contenders, reportedly, interested in McGee.
