Report: Sixers Coaching Search Down To Two

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Many names have circulated this week as candidates for the Sixers head coaching job. Assistants from the Heat, Celtics, Spurs and Hawks have been 'granted permission' to speak to the team in regard to their open head coaching vacancy.
According to one report, there are only two real candidates.
San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Brett Brown and Sixers assistant coach Michael Curry are the two main contenders to coach the Sixers in 2013-14, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
"Philly search a lot like Houston's when Rockets last had an opening: Talk to everyone you can to download as much other-team info as you can," Stein reported via Twitter. "But word in coaching circles persists that Curry on one-year basis while team tanks or Brown off Spurs' bench still Philly's top two options. Latest rumble is that Brett Brown, one of Pop's longtime top aides in SA and Australia's NT coach, will get last interview Philly conducts."
This would make sense, and start to put together some pieces of some reports that orginally seemed incorrect. The night of the NBA Draft, the NY Daily News reported that Brett Brown would be the next Sixers coach. A report that Sam Hinkie refuted, and was followed by reports that Brown wanted the Celtics job. If Hinkie was planning on interviewing assistant coaches to download information, reports that he's already made his decision would hurt that plan. As well, Michael Curry coached the team during Summer League, and been mentioned as a top candidate by the Daily News' Bob Cooney.
Finally, it would also make more sense of some coaching candidates that don't seem to make sense, like Quin Synder.
Time will tell when this coaching search will finally end, but it seems like that time is near.
