Report: Roy Oswalt Throws Bullpen Session For Phillies
By Spike Eskin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Roy Oswalt said before the season that he'd like to pitch for an MLB team this year. The Phillies are one of four teams who appear to be interested.
According to a report, Oswalt threw bullpen sessions for both the Phillies and Boston Red Sox, and will throw for two other teams.
Oswalt said in late February that he would look to sign with a major league team by mid-season. In an interview soon after Oswalt's announcement, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki suggested that the Phillies could be potential suitors.
Vance Worley was put on the 15 day disabled list on Thursday with elbow soreness, and will miss at least two starts. Cliff Lee recently returned from the DL with an abdominal strain.
Oswalt joined the Phillies in the middle of 2010, and also pitched for the team in 2011. In 35 starts for the Phillies, Oswalt went 16-11 with an ERA of 2.96.
