Report: Pa. Ranks Low When It Comes To Residents' Well-being
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Want to feel healthy and happy? Move to North Dakota. Or South Dakota.
That's the takeaway from the just-released 2013 edition of an annual report that ranks each state according to an assessment of its residents' well-being.
And according to the sixth annual Gallup-Healthways Well-being Index, the news for Pennsylvania isn't great. The Keystone State came in 36th on the list, down from 2012's rank of 29th.
Another state in our region, Delaware, didn't fare so well either, coming in 28th on the Gallup-Healthways tally, while New Jersey came in 23rd.
West Virginia is apparently the worst state to live in for a person's well-being. The Dakotas ranked the best.
The scores were determined based on more than 178,000 phone interviews on topics such as emotional and physical health, work environment, social and community factors and access to necessities such as food and healthcare.
